J&T Express opens community pantry in Muntinlupa
MANILA: It's always heartening to see a winning idea replicated — particularly if it means helping those need it the most.
J&T Express has launched its “J&T Pantry” in Muntinlupa yesterday, April 21. The concept is inspired by the Maginhawa Community Pantry in Quezon City.
In a statement, J&T Express Philippines Vice President Zoe Chi said, “Many Filipinos are grappling to survive during this pandemic. J&T Express believes that during these challenging times, it is important to stand strong and help one another.”
The project has received full support from J&T Express employees. Most of the items available in the J&T Pantry were prepared by J&T Express, but most of its team members had also personally donated items, including food and other basic essentials.
The J&T Pantry Muntinlupa branch is open from 9 a.m. onwards. J&T Express is set to launch more community pantry branches in Pilar, Las Piñas, Bernabe, Parañaque, and Taguig.
J&T Express Philippines Regional Key Accounts Manager Ella Opeda said, “We are very fortunate to work at J&T. Our income can support our families, but we are also worried about families who have lost their income due to the epidemic, so we organized this community pantry event to distribute food for free.”
The J&T Pantry offers food and other basic essentials for free to anyone who needs it. J&T Express reminds everyone to wear face masks and face shield when visiting the community pantry.
