It also had a “special purpose vehicles” sales — which includes light to heavy military automobiles and small to large public utility vehicles — that totaled 610 units.

Compared to the same month last year, the Hyundai-owned brand enjoyed a 7.7-percent increase in its overall sales as it only recorded selling 239,371 vehicles in October 2022.

Its local sales reflected a 0.4-percent increase (42,781 cars) while its overseas deliveries translated to a 9.2-percent growth (196,173 vehicles). Most impressive is Kia’s “special purpose vehicles” sales as it ballooned to 46.3 percent compared to the brand’s October 2022 numbers.

    Kia Seltos facelift

Sharing what nameplates drove Kia’s sales, it said that its best-seller globally was the Sportage sport utility vehicle (SUV). The Seltos and Sorento nameplates followed in second and third, respectively.

Overseas, the Kia Sportage also dominated the charts, as did the Seltos. In third was the K3, which we know here in the Philippines as the Forte.

Domestically, However, Kia’s record showed that it was the Sorento that led its sales while the Ray crossover utility vehicle and the Sportage SUV followed suit.

“Kia will continue to build its sales momentum with the launch of the new K5 sedan and Carnival MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) models. Kia’s EV brand proposition will be further strengthened with the new EV9, the company’s flagship vehicle, and first three-row electric SUV, soon to be rolled out across global markets,” Kia wrote in a press release.

In the Philippine market, Kia’s offerings include models like the all-new Sorento, all-new Carnival, Stonic, Soluto, Seltos, and the all-electric EV6. The brand also caters to the Filipino people’s commercial needs with the K2500 light commercial vehicle.
