Kia Telluride officially revealed; to be a complete off-roader
MANILA: We all knew that Kia was working on a big crossover and it was evident on the spied model some months back. Now, the company has officially debuted it with the 'Telluride' nameplate.
The new KIA Telluride is bigger than the company’s present Sorento model and competes against other similar vehicles like the Toyota Land Cruiser, Chevrolet Tahoe and the Ford Expedition. It is built on the Telluride concept that was displayed a few years ago.
Right on the onset, the Kia Telluride crossover holds a boxy design all around. The front grille is very wide and is perfectly complemented by the square headlamps. Apart from that, there are certain things that make it look like a complete offroader, like the brush guard, thick tyres and a nudge bar. This tough appearance is carried on all the sides, including the rear, which has a high mounted spare tyre and a prominent skid plate lower on the bumper.
The cabin of this Kia Telluride is decorated with leather and wood inserts on all sides. The dashboard and steering wheel are wrapped with saddle brown leather cover. Also, the wooden inserts are found on the centre dash and on the door inside areas. For the infotainment system, there is a floating touchscreen display which makes the car very upmarket.
Coming to the mechanism, though the company has already debuted the Telluride, it has not mentioned the exact specifications yet. But yes, KIA did mention that the big car would be getting a V6 motor under the hood. We are anticipating a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine, making 365 PS of power or a bigger 3.8-litre but naturally-aspirated engine, which could make 303 PS.
Since this debut was of the production version of the Telluride, it is expected to hit the showrooms soon.
