Lalamove partners share how the delivery platform allows them to support themselves and loved ones
MANILA: Lalamove continues to provide opportunities to Filipinos who were rendered jobless since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The delivery app has kept its doors open for aspiring partner drivers to support their themselves and their loved ones after being displaced from their previous jobs.
Lester Llansang, a former actor who became unemployed after his recent stint in Ang Probinsyano, recently shared his newfound journey with Lalamove in an interview with Ogie Diaz. “Ini-enjoy ko ngayon ang pagmo-motor at nagde-deliver ako ng pangangailangan ng tao bilang Lalamove rider (I now enjoy motorcycle riding and delivering the needs of the people as a Lalamove rider).”
Alvin Castillo, a former hotel staff, also shared the challenges that he faced when his company retrenched him, and when he was looking for a new means of earning. “Dati akong nagtatrabaho sa hotel bilang staff dun. Since nagkaroon ng pandemya, kasama ako sa natanggal. Sa awa ng Diyos na-process agad ang application ko (I was previously working as a staff in a hotel. I was laid off when the pandemic started. By the grace of God, my application was quickly processed),” Castillo shared. He was also surprised that he earns more now with Lalamove compared to his previous job. “Nakakuha ng panggastos para sa aking pamilya. Nagkaroon rin ako ng savings, nakababayad ng bills at may extra income, hindi katulad sa dati kong trabaho. Ngayon dumodoble na ang kita ko sa Lalamove, samahan lang ng sipag at tiyaga (I am now able to meet our family expenses. I now have my own savings and extra income and I am now able to pay bills, unlike in my previous job. With hard work and perseverance, my income with Lalamove is even doubled),” he added.
Employees were not the only ones who struggled during the pandemic. Arnold Barquillo shared how his previously owned business was on the verge of collapse when the pandemic hit the country, making it much more difficult to bounce back.
He said, “Naghanap ako ng ibang pagkakakitaan dahil nagkaproblema ang negosyo namin. Ginamit ko yung sasakyan namin at nakipagsapalaran sa Lalamove. Noong pandemic, dinere-deretso ko na ang pagbiyahe. Para sa pamilya ko…, salamat sa suporta at pagibibigay ng motivation sakin, sila lang ang dahilan ko para magtrabaho. Kailangan lang talaga maging pasensyoso at masipag sa delivery (I started looking for a new means of earning because our business was facing a problem. I used our vehicle to venture into Lalamove. I consistently worked during the pandemic. I thank my family for the support and motivation they have given me. They are the reason why I am inspired to work. Patience and hard work in delivering are the key values needed to work with Lalamove.”
The challenges brought by the pandemic to millions of Filipinos seem to be invincible. Thankfully, on-demand delivery platforms offer new opportunities to earn more. Aspiring Lalamove partner drivers may join through lalamove.com/philippines/manila/fil/drive.
