Lamborghini bids V10 engine farewell with Huracán STJ
Only 10 samples of the V10-equipped super sports car will be made
MANILA: Lamborghini is saying farewell to the V10 engine by releasing the Huracán STJ.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
From what vehicle is the Lamborghini Huracán STJ based from?
Per Lamborghini, the Huracán STJ is based from the Huracán STO.What does the STJ in its name stand for?
According to the carmaker, STJ stands for Super Trofeo Jota.Per the Italian carmaker, the Lamborghini Huracán STJ is the last super sports car from the “house of the raging bull” to sport a V10 powerplant.
“The naturally aspirated V10 engine is a symbol of Automobili Lamborghini’s history, contributing to the success of the Huracán family first presented in 2014, which by the end of the year will be replaced by an all-new super sports car equipped with a new hybrid powertrain,” the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based brand said in a press release.
The STJ in the model’s name stands for Super Trofeo Jota. Super Trofeo, for those familiar with the brand, is its famous one-make championship series established in 2009. On the other hand, Jota refers to Appendix J of the FIA Regulations that sets the racing car specifications, and to a long tradition of Lamborghini models developed for the track, starting from the Miura SVJ and continuing with the Aventador SVJ.
With a moniker rooted in performance racing, it’s only fitting that the Lamborghini Huracán STJ wears appointments that will set it apart from others in terms of looks and capabilities.
First in the list is its V10 engine. Under the hood is a powerplant that can deliver a maximum of 630 horses with 656 Newton-meters of torque. Sending the output to the rear wheels is its seven-speed Lamborghini Doppia Frizione transmission that facilitates smooth shifting of gears.
Additionally, the Lamborghini Huracán STJ is equipped with a dedicated aerodynamic package developed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse technicians. Notable aerodynamic features include two all-new carbon fiber aerodynamic appendages and the slight tweaking of the rear wing’s angle to gain better aerodynamic load and balance.
Suspension-wise, the Lamborghini Huracán STJ gets a set of four adjustable racing-derived shock absorbers, which are four-way adjustable to optimize the rebound and compression at both high and low frequencies.
The special characteristics of the shock absorbers — Lamborghini pointed out — allow lower spring stiffness to be used while maintaining optimal dynamic control of the car and increasing steering precision.
Fitted on its 20-inch single-nut rims are special Bridgestone Potenza Race tires to help drivers maximize driving dynamics.
Only 10 Lamborghini Huracán STJ examples will be produced.
