Lamborghini replaces father-son duo’s 3D printed replica with a real Aventador S

MANILA: There are countless Lamborghini fans around the globe, and Xander is one of them from Erie, Colorado, USA. The 12-year-old enjoys driving a Lamborghini Aventador in his video games along with his father, Sterling Backus. One fine day,

Xander asked his father if a real-life Aventador could be built by them. And, it has since been two-years that the father-son duo is working on a 3D printed replica of the Italian supercar.

Ever since the beginning, the project has now come a long way. Not only the father-son duo's 3D printed replica looks like a real-life Aventador but also houses a powertrain underneath the sensuous body lines.

While working on their project, the duo gained popularity through local news channels before Lamborghini finally found them and decided to feature the family in its Christmas video where the Italian automaker wanted to showcase "real Lamborghini lovers".

Lamborghini, along with its camera crew, reached out to the family and started shooting the project citing it to become part of a holiday video. Although the whole family was unaware of the fact that these were real Lamborghini folks,

Sterling Backus, the head of the family, was the partner in crime with the Italian automaker along the way. Lamborghini replaced the father-son duo's 3D printed replica project with a real-life Aventador S a few days before Christmas, and the smile on Xander's face when the 12-year-old opened the door of their garage said it all.

“Automobili Lamborghini is against any attempt at counterfeiting. However, a true story of such authentic passion deserves to be featured, which is why we chose to tell of Sterling’s and Xander’s project in our 2019 Christmas video,” said Katia Bassi, Automobili Lamborghini's chief marketing and communication officer.

Even though the real thing is with the family for a short duration, Xander's dream has certainly come to life and the young boy will now be more inspired and motivated than ever before to get one for himself when he grows up.
