Land Rover achieves 2 wins at Auto Express New Car Awards

MANILA: The Land Rover Range Rover and Land Rover Defender earned recognition at the 2022 Auto Express New Car Awards.

The Auto Express New Car Awards, an annual celebration of the best vehicles on the market, are held with the aim of advising buyers on the best options to meet their needs. The new Range Rover was recognized as the Best Luxury Car, while the Defender was hailed as the Best Large Premium SUV.

The fifth-generation Range Rover was introduced earlier this year with a focus on modern luxury. Range Rover combines spectacular modernity with unparalleled capability and unsurpassed elegance. The Range Rover gives customers more options than ever before with four, five, or seven seats in either Standard or Long Wheelbase body designs. The Range Rover also comes with a variety of powertrain options, including an extended-range plug-in electric hybrid with CO2 emissions as low as 18 g/km and an EV range of up to 70 miles.

“The car that pioneered the luxury SUV class more than half a century ago, the remarkable Range Rover is back to its best in 2022. The Auto Express Best Luxury Car award is the new Range Rover's second major award in a matter of months having won the Reader Award at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards last January.

Meanwhile, the Land Rover Defender has received the Best Large Premium SUV award from Auto Express for the second year in a row. The legendary 4x4 is now available with eight seats courtesy of the Defender 130, which has an extended body for more cabin space. Land Rover's Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (iAWD) system makes the Defender bold, capable, and unstoppable.

“With the Defender, Land Rover decided on a different take when it comes to ‘premium,’ proving that utility and an element of luxury can sit comfortably alongside each other — which is where the Defender derives much of its personality from. Beautifully rugged exposed screw heads mix with soft leather, durable rubberized trim, the smartest, most advanced technology and clever, expensive-feeling engineering to deliver something unique in this class,” Fowler said.

Since its debut, the Defender has amassed a long list of prestigious awards, including World Car Design of the Year at the 2021 World Car Awards.
