Land Rover Defender Production to be Continued
MANILA: Previously heard that production of Land Rover Defender will cease in December but receiving the high demand response, the British manufacturer thought of streching its production till the February end or potentially even to April. Does that mean that the tenacious offroader will be able to celebrate its 33 rd birthday?
“Production is going to be extended until at least the end of February. Although I’ve been told that February is the definite cut-off date someone else has said it could possibly go on until April.” told by an employee currently working at Solihull, England, factory where the Defender is built.
Last year, 17781 Defenders were produced and this year the orders have significantly shoot up as a result of which 425 workers are struggling to keep up the pace of producing 125 Defenders daily instead of 80, manufactured earlier. The two basic reasons for the production to cease is the stricter emission regulations around the world and Defender's inability to comply with latest safety regulations in the United States.

That means, the engineers and designers must be busy in crafting the new Defender as it is also heard that the new Defender will be underpinned by the aluminum monocoque and will be fitted with inline-four cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines in combination to either eight speed or nine speed boxes. We are sure, all the defy defenders must be happy to read this and would wait for the next lot of Defenders which they can drive in their own defense.
