Land Rover Defender to land in the Philippines in early 2020
MANILA: Talks about the 2020 Land Rover Defender have been going on since forever. In recent times, the automaker finally disclosed that the heavy duty 4x4 will be stepping on the podium in September 2019. This time around, there’s good news for the Filipinos. Yes, as you would have guessed it by the title of the story, the all-new Land Rover Defender will arrive in the country in early 2020 or shall we say quarter 1 (Q1) of 2020.
Reports say that the global unveiling of the Defender may happen on September 5, later this year. Soon after, the 4x4 should be in the Philippines by February of March 2020. While any kind of information about the specifications of the new Defender remains unknown, the SUV has gone through some rigorous testing for 1.2 million kilometres. Also, the SUV has been tested in the Borana Conservancy in Africa before its launch.
In terms of styling, the new Defender follows the same boxy design philosophy. However, the SUV does come with a new pair headlamps as well as taillights. There is also a spare tyre carrier on the tailgate, just like the before. It will be interesting to see whether the all-new Land Rover Defender continues to feature the side-hinged opening tailgate or not.
Some bits of information about the upcoming Land Rover Defender reveals that the SUV will ditch the old leaf spring suspension system in favour of a new independent system. Moreover, the 4x4 is also said to get its juices from a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine with a hybrid powertrain to be offered as well. From December 2019, Slovakia will be the place where the all-new Land Rover Defender will be produced. Excited for one of the best 4x4 SUVs to make a comeback? Because we for sure are!
