Lexus moves launch of all-new IS to June 16

MANILA: After declaring the postponement of the all-new IS launch due to “recent global situation," Lexus has come back with a new date: June 16, 2020.

The announcement came with a brighter and longer look of the vehicle via a six-second clip showing a wheel, the F-Sport badge, the C-pillar, and a tail of what seems to be an off-white trim of the fourth-generation IS.

Lexus claims it is set to become the model’s best example yet by combining brave design, imaginative technology, and exhilarating performance in the Japanese automaker’s latest luxury compact sedan.

The Japanese automaker has not yet given a hint as to what engine it will be using, which leaves enthusiasts speculating whether it will it be a twin-turbo V6 or a V8. There are rumors as well that it could even get the Supra’s 3.0L turbocharged BMW engine.

It will debut with a rear-wheel drive format like its predecessors, but no word yet whether it gets an all-wheel drive like the IS 250, IS 300, and IS 350.
