Per the agency, the project will allow OFW to renew their driver’s licenses without physically appearing at an LTO branch.Per the country’s land transport bureau, the program — dubbed the “Pinabilis sa Bagong Bayani ang Magkalisensya” (LTO PBBM Project) — is the result of the discussion between Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista and DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac.
Its aim is to offer a convenient means for Filipinos living or working abroad to renew their driver's licenses online so they no longer need to physically appear at an LTO branch.
“This initiative is another product of the instruction of our President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. not only to make the government services fast and comfortable to all Filipinos, whether in the Philippines or abroad but also in his directive to go digital to further bring government services closer to the people,” LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza said.
“This project will save time and reduce the financial burden on Filipinos living or working abroad who might otherwise need to travel back to the Philippines to renew their driver’s license,” Mendoza explained.
“This is also aimed at aligning with global trends in e-governance and modernizing government services by offering online license renewal, reflecting a commitment to digital transformation,” he added.
LTO launched the program during the Migrant Workers Day celebrations at the DMW Office in Mandaluyong City.
