LTO to only accept online submitted medical certificates
Are you thinking to apply for a driving license? Then you must know that it has been made mandatory by LTO to submit the medical certificates issued online by listed clinics. The earlier process was, however, hassle-free as you just had to visit one of the medical clinics, which was more suitably placed right beside the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO).
They only take a precise eye exam and note down reports depending upon what you have dictated. After that, they provide you with the medical certificate that was to be handed over to the LTO. But that’s not the case now, as LTO only accepts medical certificates issued online by practicing physicians and medical clinics listed on the LTO’s database.
However, the rule is not stable at the moment and applies to a few regions only. The new rule is implemented in the National Capital Region (NCR), and Region 11. Other parts of the country where this rule will take effects are listed below, according to the date of implementation:
- Region 5, Region 4A, Region 4B, Region 7 – January 14, 2019
- Region 6, Region 9, Region 12 – January 21, 2019
- Region 1, Region 2, Region 3 – January 28, 2019
- Region 10, Region 8, CAR, and CARAGA – February 4, 2019
There was a facebook post, posted by the LTO–National Capital Region, which stated that “only registered medical clinics/physicians are allowed in LTO IT System.” Moreover, this directs all the practitioners to dispense medical certificates to enroll at their corresponding LTO regional offices one week before the date of implementation.
In addition, physicians who desire to register should get their papers examined at their corresponding regional offices through the head of LTO’s regional operations divisions. Also, the agency has mentioned clearly that neither the driver’s license nor the student permit will be issued to the driver/aspirant if he/she fails to get the online medical certificate to get transferred to the LTO.
If you are wondering how to find such clinics that are registered under LTO, then you just have to visit the agency’s licensing centre, and you will be able to find a list where all the details regarding the clinics and doctors are shown. Moreover, the agency has also published an initial list which comprises of the physician’s name and their corresponding clinic and a final list where the doctors’ and clinics’ location is displayed.
Do not worry regarding the fees, even if the process of getting a medical certificate is changed by LTO, they have made sure that the fee remained unchanged for the online submission.
If you are thinking to apply for a driving license to freely drive your vehicle around the streets of Philippines, then take the reference of the list of the physicians for the submission of the online medical certificate. However, if you do not want to visit the agency to check the list, then you can check the initial list of doctor’s and their corresponding clinic’s name provided below:
