LTO To Summon Driver of Viral SUV that was Parked in the Middle of the Road

MANILA: The driver of the Toyota Fortuner that recently went viral for allegedly being parked in the middle of the road near the entrance of La Salle Greenhills will be summoned by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

After receiving a letter from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II stated that he had requested a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

“Nakita ko mismo ang larawan ng inirereklamong insidente at ako’y napailing na lang habang binabasa ang sulat galing sa MMDA na pagkatapos iwan ang sasakyan sa gitna ng kalsada ay pumasok ang driver nito sa loob ng isang paaralan sa lugar (I saw the picture of the complained incident and I just shook my head while reading the letter from the MMDA that said that after leaving the vehicle in the middle of the road, its driver entered a school in the area). But as part of the due process, we will conduct an investigation to identify the driver and eventually summon him and ask him to explain why he should not lose the privilege of being granted a driver’s license,” Mendoza said.

According to the MMDA, the incident worsened the traffic situation in the area. The MMDA claimed that the driver's action was a violation of Republic Act No. 4136 or an obstruction of traffic and could be grounds for the suspension of their driver's license.

Mendoza guaranteed that the case would be settled as soon as possible.
