Mahindra KUV100, First M&M Car After Pininfarina Acquisition
MANILA: Mahindra KUV100 will be the first car to roll out from the Mahindra & Mahindra plant after the recent Mahindra Pininfarina deal. The KUV100 will originally come onboard in its home country, India, where the car will be launch on 15th January 2016. With its new SUV, Mahindra is trying to make both its image and impact felt stronger on the auto world.
Though, the car is first to come after the Indian-born automaker acquired the Italian designing company, but we are not sure about Pininfarina contribution in the all new KUV100. With its new creation, M&M is trying to present a gen-next car for the gen-X youth. According to Mahindra, the car is specially designed keeping the youth in mind and so is being aptly named K-kool U-utility V-vehicle.
Though, for the Indian auto market, the company has started the pre-launch booking activity, a word from M&M in regard to Philippines market in still awaited. But seeing the current scenario, a soon KUV100 Philippines launch can be expected.
The Indian spec of KUV100 is known to have four trims that go by the name - K2, K4, K6 and K8, with K2 being the base variant. These trims will be powered by an all-new range of mFalcon engine, available in both diesel and petrol options. The 1.2L G80 petrol mill will generate 82 PS of maximum power and 114 Nm of peak torque. The same 1.2L diesel mill rates higher on the torque side and displays figures like 189 Nm with 77 PS of power.
The base variants of this 3+3 seater come equipped with manual air-con system and power steering with tilt adjustment on the interior. The exterior side is crafted with body color bumper and rear spoiler, 15-inch alloy wheels with 185/65 tires and contour lines on entire body length. The safety front comes with ABS with EBD, dual airbag and Electronic Stability Control.
Mahindra Philippines made its presence felt in our market only a few months back and since then it is busy expanding its network. Its current dealership network includes Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and Butuan, with the new ones in Quirino Avenue, Las Pinas, and Pasay City. The brand recently cracked the Philippines National Police deal, wherein it supplied 1470 units of its Enforcer. Currently, apart from Enforcer, Mahindra Philippines also has Xylo AUV on offer and in addition, the company is expanding its product line-up with tractors and affordable vehicles. Though, there is no official confirmation from the company, we hope anytime soon in 2016, Mahindra KUV100 will make its Philippines debut.
