Mahindra Philippines looking for Expanding into Two New Sectors
MANILA: Mahindra Philippines is looking forward to expand its business in two new automobile sectors. Inspite of just offering Mahindra vehicles, Asiabrands Motors Corporation, the official distributor of Mahindra & Mahindra in the Philippines is looking into sectors like tractors, and affordable vehicle armouring services. The distributer is keen to expand the sectors by 2016.
According to Mr. Felix Mabilog Jr., the veteran auto executive, “Mahindra is the leading manufacturer of tractors in the world, so in the coming year we shall be investing into the sector.”
In Philippines, Mahindra Tractors are not so common because the local farming is influenced by the labour force. The introduction of new tractors will boost the agricultural growth and productivity in the country. Mabilog has also invited the banks to offer loans under the farmer scheme and make the process hassle-free.
Mabilog stated that the tractors will cost at a starting price of PhP 500,000, while the upper models will cost up to PhP 2 million. Mabilog is also keen to invest in vehicle armouring. Presently, the simple vehicle armouring services are provided at PhP 2.37 million (excluding the price of the vehicle). Moreover, the vehicle armouring business is quite expensive and includes installation of various heavy-bullet proof plates and parts inside the vehicle doors and panels.
Mabilog has promised to offer the armour services for lesser amount. The basic level 1 armouring will be done at PhP 2 million (USD 42,000), while the level 2 armouring shall include the vehicle price as well.
