Mahindra unveils Thar Roxx SUV

MANILA: Mahindra has unveiled the Thar Roxx sport utility vehicle (SUV) in India.

Per the carmaker, it is built using the brand’s all-new M-Glyde platform and is offered with either a 2.0-liter gasoline engine or a 2.2-liter diesel mill. The former makes some 174 horsepower (hp) with 380 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque while the latter dishes out 171 hp with 370 Nm of pulling power.

Both engine options can be had with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

Building on this legacy, the Thar Roxx is ‘The’ SUV, seamlessly combining head-turning design, a refined drive, powerful performance, superior off-roading capability, ultimate safety, luxurious space, and advanced technology. With Thar Roxx, we’re not just elevating the SUV experience — we’re setting our sights on making the Thar brand the number one SUV by volume within the next three to five years,” Mahindra & Mahindra Limited Automotive Division President Veejay Nakra said.

Outside, the Mahindra Thar Roxx features a bold front grille paired with bi-led projector headlamps and C-shaped daytime running lights. It wears 19-inch alloy wheels paired with rugged cladding to create an outdoorsy appeal.

Inside, the SUV gets leatherette trims and soft-touch materials, two 10.24-inch screens, a Harman Kardon sound system with QuantumLogic surround technology, Wireless Carplay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, as well as wireless charging.

Further, the Thar Roxx also gets advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS) such as automatic emergency braking, a 360-degree surround-view system, blind spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control, among others.

Sales for the Mahindra Thar Roxx will begin on October 30. Price ranges from P870,309-P1.372 million.
