Maserati unboxes MC20 Fuoriserie Edition co-designed by David Beckham

MANILA: Maserati has officially unveiled the MC20 Fuoriserie Edition for David Beckham. As the ambassador of the Italian car brand, Beckham designed the customized car with the help of the Maserati Centro Stile. The British champion’s affection for his second home city was showcased in a customized car that represents the principles of performance and sportiness — the MC20.

This project is part of Maserati’s Fuoriserie program, which allows customers to design their own Maserati in various styles. The car, developed as a symbol of true luxury in the third millennium, displays its unique essence and personality. Maserati Fuoriserie is a blank canvas, and the House of the Trident has a wide range of instruments to choose from. The rest is up to the client’s particular taste and inspiration, allowing them to define their own trends and express themselves.

Beckham collaborated with the Maserati Centro Stile designer in a bespoke design process to develop the MC20 Fuoriserie Edition. This car is completely made of carbon fiber and is propelled by a patented V6 petrol engine adapted from Formula 1 technologies.

The starting point for this story is Miami, Florida, where Beckham’s US football club is based. This resulted to a black and pink chromatic contrast and interplay between glossy and matte surfaces. The team’s colors are black and pink, and the uniforms feature contrasting glossy and matte treatments.

The bodywork includes a glossy black tone that contrasts with the Trident insignia on the grille and C-pillar, which are also black but have an opaque finish. The Maserati inscription on the rear is also opaque, and the MC20 emblem on the door, as well as the Brembo brake calipers, is pastel pink.

The interior is wrapped in black leather and Alcantara with pink contrast stitching. Tone-on-tone laser engraving is used on the Alcantara backrests, and a three-dimensional pastel pink embroidery is featured on the headrest. The center tunnel between the two seats is embellished with a personalized nameplate with glossy-matte look—the Maserati Fuoriserie lettering is pastel pink at the top, next to the Trident, and the italics “For David” appears with an aluminum effect at the bottom.

In a statement, Maserati Design Head Klaus Busse said, “As car designers, our mission is to offer a holistic experience. This value guides our brand's stylistic research, making each Maserati uniquely recognizable. Our customization program is another example of our brand’s goal to create singular experiences for our customers: Maserati Fuoriserie is a blank canvas, on which Maserati clients can write their own stories and unleash their creativity, making their dreams come true. Designing this special edition MC20 with David, as with all our Fuoriserie projects, is also an ode to the brand’s past, taking us back to a time when every car was hand-built to the client’s requests, giving life to a one-off, a true ‘fuoriserie.’”

Miami is known for its enchanting nights and exquisite sunsets. The MC20 Fuoriserie Edition for David Beckham appears to be designed to cross the line between day and night, between pink, the color that greets and farewells everyone with each sunset, and black, the color that transports everyone to the realm of dreams: a realm where space and time and relative concepts and people can express themselves through a bespoke car.

“I have always been a car enthusiast, so to be part of designing and creating my MC20 through the Fuoriserie customization program has been an amazing experience,” Beckham stated. “Cars are about individual taste, whether it’s the model, color, or small personal details on the inside. It has been incredible to collaborate with the Maserati team and designers to create this one-off car that is inspired by my second home, Miami and my football club there. It is a joy to be behind the wheel.”
