Mazda reveals features, pricing of US-spec 2023 CX-9

MANILA: Mazda North American Operations has unveiled the US-spec 2023 CX-9, which features improved driving dynamics, handling, and vehicle control.

The CX-9 midsize crossover SUV exhibits many of the premium qualities that Volvo cars offer while being one of the safest vehicles in its class. It is one of the first models in its class to receive a Good rating in the new, tougher side impact test by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The new standard 2023 CX-9 Touring model can accommodate up to six people, with second-row captain chairs and a center pass through. The second-row seats come with slide and tilt function, making it easier to access the third row. The CX-9 Touring also comes with black or sand leather seats, power moonroof, LED fog lights, and wireless phone charger. The 2023 Mazda CX-9 Touring is priced at $38,750 (approximately P2.175 million).

Meanwhile, the CX-9 Touring Plus can accommodate up to seven people. It comes standard with a second-row bench seating, with optional second-row captain chairs available. Other features include ventilated features, power driver’s seat with memory, black metallic 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels, gloss black front grille, aluminum roof rails, and a frameless rearview mirror. The 2023 Mazda CX-9 Touring Plus retails for $41,500 (approximately P2.33 million).

The 2023 Mazda CX-9 also comes in Carbon Edition, which features a Polymetal Gray exterior paint color, gloss black automatic power-folding door mirrors, and chrome accents on the lower molding. On the inside, the CX-9 Carbon Edition comes with red leather seats with aluminum interior trim, LED door pocket illumination, LED door pull handles, overhead LED illumination, and black metallic accents on the dashboard, door panels, and handle bezels. Carbon Edition-exclusive features include a heated steering wheel with paddle shifters, seven-inch LCD multi-information gauge display, Rear Smart City Brake Support, Adaptive Front-Lighting System, and windshield wiper de-icer. The 2023 Mazda CX-9 Carbon Edition is priced at $44,780 (approximately P2.514 million).

The CX-9 Grand Touring, meanwhile, comes with 20-inch silver metallic aluminum alloy wheels and body-color automatic power-folding door mirrors.The heated second-row seats can also be configured as either bench seating or captain seats with armrest and center pass through. The CX-9 Grand Touring is also equipped with a 360° View Monitor, Active Driving Display with Traffic Sign Recognition, Mazda Navigation, and three-year SiriusXM Traffic & Travel Link subscription. The 2023 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring is priced at $45,640 (approximately P2.563 million).

The highest model offering, the CX-9 Signature, builds off the features found in the Grand Touring and upgrades the experience with Nappa leather first- and second-row seats, Santos Rosewood interior trim, patterned aluminum on the dashboard and door handle bezels, and unique stitching on the steering wheel. The second row offers a first-class feel as the center console comes with an armrest storage compartment, which provides convenient access to heated seat buttons and cup holders. The CX-9 signature also comes standard with hands-free power tailgate, 20-inch brilliant silver aluminum alloy wheels, a titanium gray metallic front grille with LED lighting accent, and larger dual exhaust pipes the 2023 Mazda CX-9 Signature retails for $48,460 (approximately P2.721 million).

All CX-9 models are powered by a Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual and sport modes. The engine produces up to 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque.

Mazda's i-Activ AWD system gives drivers a nearly instantaneous response to inputs by continuously monitoring weight distribution and transmitting power to the appropriate wheels. All CX-9 models also come with Off-Road Traction Assist and G-Vectoring Control Plus.

The 2023 Mazda CX-9 is also equipped with standard i-Activsense driver assist safety features such as Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Smart Brake Support with collision warning, Advanced Smart City Brake Support with pedestrian detection, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist.

The CX-9 is equipped with a 10.25-inch full-color center display with the latest Mazda Connect infotainment system which can be connected to a smartphone through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The system can also be controlled through the multi-function commander knob.

Every purchase of the Mazda CX-9 comes with complimentary Mazda Connected Services for three years, allowing customers to monitor their vehicle status remotely through the MyMazda app.

Other standard features include push button start, Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry, leather-wrapped shifter, front- and second-row dual USB inputs, six-speaker sound system, three-zone automatic climate control, electronic parking brake, rear side and liftgate window privacy glass, and auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink.

The 2023 Mazda CX-9 is available in three premium paint colors: Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Machine Gray Metallic, and Snowflake White Pearl Mica.
