In a statement, Walpole Chief Executive Officer Helen Brocklebank said, “McLaren constantly pushes the boundaries of what's possible in a modern luxury supercar, which is why the brand was a shoo-in for the Walpole Game Changer Award. The technological innovation of the Artura's carbon fiber lightweight architecture coupled with its high-performance hybrid engine, wrapped up in an exquisite design sets an exciting course for the future of British high-end automotive.”

When it released the world's first hybrid hypercar, the McLaren P1, over nine years ago, McLaren solidified its reputation in electrification. The all-new Artura marks the brand’s first foray into series production of an electrified vehicle, supported by revolutionary procedures and technology created at the McLaren Composites Technology Center, which opened just three years ago, to reduce vehicle mass, allowing for more energy-efficient driving while maintaining the driving and handling characteristics McLaren customers expect.

These breakthroughs are expected to not only steer McLaren’s route to a fully electrified future this decade, but the company is also with the UK Government to apply its lightweighting expertise to other modes of transportation.

“It’s an honor to have won Walpole’s Game Changer award given for McLaren Automotive’s commitment to innovation, design and the application of science for our hand-built supercars,” McLaren Automotive Purchasing, Commercial, Legal, and Government Affairs Executive Director Ruth Nic Aoidh stated. “In just 10 years we’ve created new processes and technologies that enable us to be leaders in our field, while remaining true to our lightweight motorsport origins to deliver an unrivalled driving experience while minimizing environmental impact. With the application of design and science, McLaren remains a truly innovative luxury British brand that delivers ground-breaking modern, personalized products that delight our customers the world over.”
