McLaren GT Review 2025
Abhishek Katariya says
As the name suggests, the McLaren GT is a gran-turismo car that has a slightly different appeal when compared to other two-door sports cars on sale from McLaren. The McLaren GT combines the two-door design and performance of a traditional sports car with the coupe-like design and driving dynamics of a grand tourer. McLaren GT is offered in the Philippines with all the customization options it is available with, in other global markets.

McLaren GT Interior & Features
Step into the cabin of the McLaren GT and you will be left impressed with its clutter-free layout. The entire cabin has been designed keeping the driver in mind, with the core highlights being a driver-focused floating centre console and a clean driver’s cockpit. The flat-bottom steering wheel of the McLaren GT lacks the appeal of a sportscar's steering wheel, but it feels good to hold and gets a cool-looking full TFT instrument console behind it.
There are soft-touch inserts on the upper part of the dashboard, with curves over them flowing towards the centre console that houses the large portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system. This touchscreen gets two rounded AC vents above it and a small conventional panel for buttons of automatic climate control. This entire housing gets piano black surrounds, and the same finish has been carried out for the minimalist centre tunnel where the unique controls for transmission and other functions are laid out.
The cabin of the McLaren GT feels airy and spacious due to the large windscreen and side windows and slim A-pillars. What increases the sense of airiness in the cabin is the electrochromic roof above, which can be switched from opaque to transparent with subtle grades in between them.
GT Exterior
The GT follows McLaren's latest design round-themed language, which is now common across the entire range of McLaren. However, for the GT, the design takes a slightly toned-down approach to make sure it loses out on a bit of aggressiveness for that smooth grand tourer appeal.
However, that doesn’t mean that the McLaren GT is a dull-looker – it is every bit of an attention-grabber with its grand and sporty styling. The front profile of the McLaren GT looks clean but not plain, with its curved front bonnet having sleek-looking headlamps on its lower edges. These headlamps have got a curved design and get U-shaped daytime running LEDs on their upper edges. For a sports car, the front bumper of the McLaren GT looks simple, with a wide air dam in the middle flanked by sporty-looking air dams on either of its sides.
The real poise of the McLaren GT is in its side profile, with the smoothly flowing designs for the front and rear fenders, a rounded roofline, and large and vertical air dams recessed in the overhangs on the rear fenders. The car comes with long-looking doors, which open upwards and come with long rearview mirrors mounted on them. To make the car look even more gracious, McLaren has given multi-spoke alloy wheels, which give a planted stance to the car. The McLaren GT has got its pillars finished in a theme of black, which gives the car a two-part look with a floating-type design for the roof.
The aggression in the visual appeal of the McLaren GT is present at the rear, with the car getting a wide-looking cluster spread across its width. The side bulges of this cluster get strips of LEDs, which serve as the main tail lamps of the car. In between, there is a small McLaren badging, just below which there is a high-mounted trapezoidal license plate housing. The car comes with rounded exhaust ports placed within the black-colored rear diffusers.
McLaren GT Ride & Handling
The McLaren GT is a grand tourer by nature, so for supercar standards, the suspension setup of dual aluminum wishbones with independent adaptive dampers feels slightly comfortable. However, in general, the ride quality is still on a stiffer edge. To make the driving experience feel like a proper sports car too, the car comes with three different driving modes of Comfort, Sport, and Track.
GT Engine & Fuel Consumption
The powerhouse of the McLaren GT is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, which has been paired to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is one of the liveliest powertrains in the history of McLaren, with its maximum power and torque outputs rated at 620 PS and 630 Nm respectively.
McLaren GT Braking & Safety
The McLaren GT is decently equipped with safety essentials like ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, roll stability control, driveline traction control, tire pressure monitoring system, front and side airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and backup camera.
GT Verdict
For a grand tourer, the McLaren GT ticks a lot of boxes with its decent ride quality, impeccable handling, powerhouse of an engine, and tonnes of visual appeal on the outside.
