Meet the 2019 Isuzu Elf with the new 4JZ1 turbo-diesel
MANILA: In Japan, where Isuzu has its roots, the automaker has unveiled the 2019 Elf. Interestingly, Isuzu has equipped the all-new Elf with a fresh turbocharged diesel-fed mill. Called the N Series in its homeland,
the 2019 Isuzu Elf has received proper updates in terms of powertrain and technology on board. To start off with, it has a new 4JZ1 engine. This new diesel-fed motor is a part of the D-Core diesel engines by Isuzu and boasts a capacity of 3.0-litre.
The 4JZ1-TCS and the 4JZ1-TCH are the two variants of the engine which possess different power outputs. While the 4JZ1-TCS makes 150 PS of maximum power at 2,800 rpm and a peak torque of 375 Nm between 1280 – 2800 rpm, the 4JZ1-TCH is capable of churning out a top power output of 175 PS at 2,860 rpm along with 430 Nm of peak torque that kicks in from 1450 – 2,860 rpm. Both manual and automatic transmission options are also available on the 2019 Isuzu Elf.
Another interesting feature is the particulate technology and urea catalytic reduction, which, Isuzu claims to be responsible for decomposing harmful chemicals likes nitrogen oxides into water and nitrogen. This technology helps the new diesel engine in abiding by the newer and stringent emission norms.
Moreover, the new Elf also comes equipped with auto start-stop technology that turns the engine off when there is no movement. Furthermore, there’s also a mode called “Econo” that limits the fuel supply and acceleration input. All these features help the new Isuzu Elf in becoming even more fuel efficient.
Just like before the Isuzu Elf can be had in the body style of your choice and requirement including simple cab, full box van, flatbed, chassis, flexible dropside, and dump truck. The 2019 Isuzu Elf is also heavy on safety with equipment like dual SRS airbags, anti-lock brakes, hill-start assist, pre-collision braking, lane-departure warning, electronic stability control, radar, and 3D surround multi-view camera system.
With the 2019 Isuzu Elf launched in Japan, we expect the newer and better truck with its fresh powertrain to land on the Philippine shores sooner than later.
