Meet the Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica
MANILA: The Huracan Tecnica, the next-generation rear-wheel-drive V10 from Lamborghini, is designed for drivers desiring for fun and lifestyle perfection on both the road and the track. The Tecnica's moniker symbolizes the Huracan's enhanced technological capability which is clearly recognizable with its new aesthetics accentuating increased aerodynamics for boosted performance, stability, and ease of usage, particularly on a circuit. The powertrain, which takes its engine from the Huracan STO and gains 30cv over the Huracan EVO rear-wheel drive (RWD), produces 565Nm of torque at maximum 6,500 rpm and accelerates from zero to 100kph in 3.2 seconds.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What powers the Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica?
The Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica is powered by a naturally aspirated V10 5.2-liter engine that churns out 640cv and 565Nm torque. What does the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) system do?
The LDVI system regulates every component of the car's dynamic behavior by combining vehicle systems and setup to give feed-forward pre-control in virtual real-time for optimum driving dynamics. The lightweight Tecnica's reworked Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) system and specially optimized driving modes with specific suspension setup, rear-wheel direct steering, and innovative brake cooling improvements let the driver enjoy the ideal Huracan for every situation. The Huracan Tecnica uses its skills and abilities to bring the best of both worlds — an eloquently versatile super sports for road and track.
In a statement, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann said, “The Huracan Tecnica condenses Lamborghini’s design and engineering expertise to create the perfect fun-to-drive Huracan, as compelling when driving to the race circuit as it is on the street itself. The Tecnica ensures that the pilot enjoys the strongest connection to the car and asphalt, with the car’s potential always at his fingertips for ease of use in every driving mode and environment: in an era of virtual experiences it pays homage to technical purity and physical sensation. The Tecnica completes the Huracan lineup, sitting perfectly between the RWD and the track-focused STO, flawlessly presenting technology, performance and the Huracan’s V10 aspirated engine in a dramatically evolved design.”
The Tecnica has a dry weight of 1,379 kg and a weight-to-power ratio of 2.15 kg/cv. At higher revs, the increased power is complemented by a crisper engine sound, while the Tecnica delivers enhanced acoustic comfort within the cockpit.
The Tecnica has rear-wheel steering with direct steering ratio and torque vectoring, as well as a modified Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS) and a Tecnica-specific suspension setup. Every dynamic system on the Tecnica is tuned to deliver a widely diverse response to each situation, depending on the drive mode selected: Strada, Sport, or Corsa.
In Strada, the torque vectoring and P-TCS give stability and maneuverability, while the rear-wheel steering provides stability and maneuverability. The engine and gearbox have been calibrated for smooth daily drive in every setting.
In Sport mode, the rear-wheel steering's improved oversteer and the enhanced P-TCS's slip threshold provide the optimum driving pleasure, while torque vectoring maintains the Tecnica's agility and responsiveness in the driver's hands. At the press of the pedal, the highly responsive powertrain ignites, and the seven-speed gearbox gives a precise and evocative shift.
In Corsa mode, the Tecnica responds to the pilot's every input with incredible precision, with the naturally aspirated Lamborghini engine's howl serving as an ardent reminder of the car's track abilities. The Tecnica demonstrates maximum precision and agility from all systems via the LDVI, including optimum lateral and longitudinal grip from the torque vectoring and P-TCS, respectively.
New brake cooling management, based on Lamborghini's track-based expertise, delivers continuously improved braking performance on both the road and the track, resulting in exceptional performance. The carbon ceramic brakes from Tecnica feature specially made cooling deflectors and caliper ducts that direct airflow into the discs to maximize heat dissipation and lower down brake fluid temperatures and brake pedal elongation. The reduced disc temperatures also help minimize brake pad consumption.
From every viewpoint, the Huracan Tecnica boasts a large and refined design modification that impresses its dual identity of an iconic super sports lifestyle and a track-oriented car. Every component is driven by aerodynamic efficiency and lightweight engineering, while maintaining a particular charm that sets the Tecnica apart from its Huracan stablemates.
A robust, inward-facing front with broad shoulders meets a lightweight, fully carbon fiber hood, giving the Tecnica a bolder, aggressive appearance. For the first time in a Huracan, a redesigned bumper incorporating the Terzo Millennio's black Ypsilon design includes an air curtain. Enhanced downforce and cooling are aided by a revamped front splitter with lower, open slats channeling air into the wheels. The use of black at the bottom of the windscreen adds to the lightweight look.
The car's form also distinguishes it from the Huracan family. While it has the same height and width as the Huracan EVO, it seems lower and wider, with a silhouette influenced by the Essenza SCV12's daylight opening line. The black of the front Ypsilon feature runs around the car's flank to the side air intakes, highlighting the car's dynamic vigor, while the body-color roof can be painted black as well.
The redesigned rear retains the clean, sculptural architecture that distinguishes a Lamborghini. The rear has been remodeled, with a new vertical rear glass window for improved visibility, and the engine hood has been redone in lightweight carbon fiber to honor the Tecnica's V10 heart. The Tecnica's muscular rear has a revised bumper with improved air inlet, a diffuser coated in body color or optional black, and new hexagonal exhaust pipes that transmit the Tecnica's powertrain delivering the enhanced fanfare.
While the fixed rear wing adds to the Tecnica's distinctive lines, its aero design primarily contributes to the 35% increase in rear downforce over the Huracan EVO RWD while also ensuring no increase in drag. In fact, drag is lowered by 20%, enhancing aero balance and promoting stability during braking and turning speed. New aero deflectors have been added to the Tecnica's underbody for better aerodynamic efficiency.
New Damiso 20-inch diamond cut wheels with Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires are based on the Lamborghini Vision GT and feature a hexagonal pattern.
The Huracan Tecnica's versatility extends inside, as well as in the multiple customization choices available: the Huracan Tecnica gives what the driver desires in terms of appearance, dynamic set-up and driver feedback, connectivity, and, most importantly, on-road and track capabilities.
Inside, the driver is immersed in his cockpit, thanks to the height-adjustable sports seats. For those who visit the circuit regularly, there are also lightweight door designs, a titanium rear arch and wheel bolts, and harness seat belts.
The Tecnica features an advanced HMI interface. In a new large "arc" in front of the pilot, the driver's instrument panel lowers colors and enhances legibility. The fun-to-drive features, such as the LDVI functions in real-time display, as well as all connectivity functions, such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa, are all available to the cockpit's occupants on the central console screen. The HMI, which is based on the STO, contains connected telemetry as well as on-board diaries of destinations and track times that are synced with the UNICA app.
Color and trim options are available as standard and optional, allowing for both luxury and sporty features. The Ad Personam program offers over 200 additional paint options in addition to the eight standard exterior colors, as well as a new Alcantara interior trim designed specifically for Tecnica, and additional exclusive options such as stitching designs and colors and the "Tecnica" motif embroidered into seat bolsters.
Aside from the Tecnica's exclusive features, Lamborghini's Ad Personam department allows customers to personalize their Huracan Tecnica with virtually unlimited color and trim combinations.
