Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe seeks to set bar in performance SUV design and dynamics
MANILA: The combination of breathtaking performance, high versatility, and a spectacular design makes the classic all-new Mercedes GLE 63 S Coupe ready to set the benchmark for dynamics and appeal of performance SUV Coupes.
The revamped 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe is expected to redefine the category with more style, technology, and power.
Two decades ago, Mercedes-AMG established the standard for a performance luxury SUV with the launch of the trailblazing ML 55 AMG SUV.
The enthralling SUV Coupe flaunts a handcrafted AMG 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo engine that includes an electrified EQ Boost starter-generator. This engine generates 850Nm of torque and 603hp and can attain 97 kph in just 3.7 ticks.
The engine is mated with the electrified EQ Boost starter-generator and a 48-volt onboard electrical system. The electric motor and the 48-volt system allow quick access to torque and horsepower, guaranteeing smooth power delivery and potentially excellent driving performance with the lowest possible energy consumption.
Several new features in the 2021 AMG GLE 63 S Coupe enable it to be more dynamic and agile compared to the previous model.
These features involve advanced technologies like the active roll stabilization or active ride control, new electronic rear differential, standard AMG ride control plus air suspension with adaptive damping adjustment, and AMG active engine mounts.
The active ride control system utilizes two autonomously functional, electromechanical actuators at the rear and front axles, each having an incorporated planetary gear. This implies that the stabilization system not only decreases body roll during cornering but also boosts ride comfort while driving in a straight line. This is given that stimuli from one-sided road humps are balanced out.
The typical appearance and feel of the Mercedes-AMG can also be seen in the high-quality interior of the GLE 63 S Coupe, which is defined by a sporty and unique ambiance with an exclusive vibe.
The AMG seats are covered with special Nappa leather upholstery. The seats offer maximum lateral support and have an AMG-specific seat pattern with an “AMG” logo in the front backrests.
Other leather variants are alternatively accessible. The three-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel consisting of aluminum shift paddles are a standard and are aerodynamically designed for dynamic driving.
Other interior features include the AMG Drive Unit steering wheel buttons for the rapid operation of dynamic controls like exhaust and suspension settings.
The interior also takes pride in the most advanced user interface from Mercedes-Benz, the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) with touchscreen, new AMG-specific displays, and voice control. As fitted in the GLE 63 S Coupe, drivers can choose from three unique display styles, which include the remarkable AMG Supersport setting.
Other standard features include ventilated and heated front seats, MB Navigation with the map and live traffic updates for three years, remote start, active LED headlamps with adaptive high-beam assist, 64-color adjustable ambient lighting, smartphone integration with NFC wireless charging, active lane-keeping assist, blind-spot assist, active parking assist, Burmester Surround sound system, 12.3" central media display with touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster.
Overall, the all-new Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe maintains the highest exclusivity and design expectations, along with outstanding flexibility and driving dynamics ideal for daily use.
The spectacular 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe will arrive in US dealerships later this year.
