Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe gets into production phase

MANILA:  The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe had made its public debut at the Geneva International Motor Show 2018. Following this, the company has announced that this powerful coupe is all set to get into production soon.

This new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe will be produced at the company’s Sindelfingen plant and will be the third sports car model to be produced here after the AMG GT and SLS AMG. And as the car is about to the hit the production, Mr. Michael Bauer, who is the plant manager at the Sindelfingen facility, has said that the production of this car at the place only goes on to show how important this location is for the company. The entire team is very charged up and excited to continue working on GT cars. The team is very experienced in this field and are acquainted with the know-how of the industry well.

Further, Ergun Lumali, the Chairman of the Works Council in the Sindelfingen plant, did not fail to mention that with this new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, the plant is completely establishing itself as a competent facility for luxury vehicles.

If we look at the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, it looks like a 4-door alternative of the 2-door tourer. It is built on the same platform as the CLS and takes a lot of the designing elements from the GT (original).

Mechanically, the new car is available with two engine trims and three tunings depending on the variant. The base model has the turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine which is capable of churning out 435 PS of power.

The mid-spec GT 63 gets a bigger bi-turbo 4.0-litre engine with a V-aligned 8-cylinder setup. This unit can thump out 585 PS of power and 800 Nm of torque. However, though the top-of-the-line GT 63 S is powered by the same motor, it is tuned further to make 639 PS of power and a humongous torque of 900 Nm. Power is sent down to all the wheels via a 9-speed gearbox, which comes as a standard fitment.
