Mercedes-Benz introduces new B-Class at 2018 Paris Motor Show

MANILA: Mercedes-Benz has introduced the W247 B-Class at the ongoing 2018 Paris Motor Show. It is added to the company’s lineup with the other compact cars like the A-Class and A-Class Sedan.

The B-Class is equipped with a lot of diesel and petrol options and all the mills fulfill the Euro 6d-TEMP terms and conditions. The B 180d is equipped with a four-cylinder, OM608 1.5-litre turbocharged engine which offers up to 114 PS of power along with a peak torque of 260 Nm. The top-end players, that is, the B 220d and B 200d both come with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine which can also be called as OM654q. The B 200d pumps out a maximum of 148 PS of power along with a peak torque of 320 Nm, while the 220d churns out up to 188 PS and 400 Nm.

A seven-speed 7G-DCT (dual-clutch) automatic does the transmission for B 180d, while the other two engines come with an eight-speed 8G-DCT automatic transmission.

Both the B 180 and B 200 get the four-cylinder, M282 1.33-litre petrol engine. The smaller trim is tuned to deliver up to 134 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque, while the bigger  B 200 outputs 161 PS power along with a peak torque of 250 Nm. Both the models share the same transmissions as B 180d.

The new B-Class shares the designing cues with the ongoing model, while the roofline is lower than before. Coming to the front fascia, more angular headlamps are chiseled, besides the reshaped hexagonal grille with rounded edges. All the base model have the H7 headlamps and LED DRLs but it can be upgraded to normal LED or even multibeam LED units.

Inside the car, two 7-inch displays are provided as standard while the customers will also have the option of getting a 7-inch and a 10.25-inch display. Moreover, an option of having two 10.25-inch displays is also available.

The B-Class sedan will hit on the European market on the 3rd of December and the manufacturer will start the deliveries from February 2019.
