Mercedes Benz Soon to Update its AMG Batch with GT R

MANILA: Mercedes Benz is increasing its performance line up with a soon 2016 debut of AMG GT-R. Though, it will be a global debut and we are clueless as to when Mercedes Benz Philippines will add this gem to its kit. As for now, our market currently only holds the 4.0L coupe Mercedes AMG GT and AMG GT S. Many of the auto buffs for a long time were bidding on the name the new AMG will hold and as for surprise it comes with a name tag that mirrors to that of Godzilla (Nissan GTR).

This new Mercedes Benz AMG will be bigger and better than the ongoing Mercedes AMG GT S and so will be priced higher. The said car has been spied on numerous occasions, thus revealing Mercedes newest beast in bits and pieces. The car will come stuffed with a small yet powerful 4.0L V8 mill, replacing the old aged and bulky 5.5L V8 twin turbo engine. This change along with some exterior tweaks proved efficient for Mercedes as the same caused a good weight loss. In all, the new AMG will now weight 100 kg less than the currently available GT S.

The available AMG GT and AMG GT S pumps out 462 PS and 510 PS of power respectively, but the new one is expected to touch the 608 PS mark. Thus, challenging the likes of Porsche 911, BMW M6 and Dodge Viper.

Apart from the re-tuned engine the GT R also gets many techs and handling up-gradations, like Four-wheel steering giving better precision at high-speed and steep corners. To improve the performance, Mercedes is said to be working on adjustable spool-valve shocks along with what they call an active aerodynamic elements. Exterior body kit as per available images will hold an aggressive look, under which will be included a large bumper, rear wing spoiler, and an F1 inspired diffuser.

So, when the car debuts in late 2016, you'll get to see an upgraded engine, interior, brakes and rolling stock, and don't forget the price tag that for sure will hold some extra zeros.
