Mitsubishi Motors PH refreshes Montero Sport

MANILA: While it is going all-out on the upcoming introduction of the Xforce, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has quietly launched the updated version of Montero Sport.

 The spruced-up iteration can already be seen at the company’s official website. “Command the road with unmatched power, control, and refinement,” MMPC stated on the website.

To recall, the model’s facelifted version was seen in Thailand (which carries the name Pajero Sport there) during the earlier part of 2024.

Below are the updates given to the midsize sport utility vehicle’s latest iteration.

The highly-noticeable update on the new Mitsubishi Montero Sport is the latest Dynamic Shield outline — with the upper portion of the front fascia sporting honeycomb inserts with new headlamps housings — and the new 18-inch alloy wheel design.

For its interior, the facelifted Mitsubishi Montero Sport wears a steering wheel that looks similar to the one seen in the Xpander — differing only the control buttons outfitted into it. Other upgrades include the liquid crystal display instrument panel, synthetic leather seats with heat guards, an infotainment system that has Smartphone-Link Display Audio (making it Apple Carplay and Android Auto-ready), and air-conditioning system that has nanoex technology (which removes PM 2.5 impurities, viruses, bacteria, and odors, while also maintaining optimal moisture levels for skin and hair).

Powering the vehicle is still the 2.4-liter diesel engine — with the automatic transmission options mated to an eight-speed gearbox and the lone manual, in six-speed kind. Its 4x4 trims continue to have the Super Select 4WD-II.

Among the safety technologies in the new Mitsubishi Montero Sport are the ultrasonic misacceleration mitigation system, rear cross traffic alert, blind sport warning with lane change assist, forward collision mitigation system, active stability and traction control, and adaptive cruise control.

Here are the new Mitsubishi Montero Sport’s four variations and their respective pricing:

•  Black Series 4WD: P2.502 million
• Black Series 2WD: P2.162 million
• GLS 2WD 8AT: P1.899 million
• GLS 2WD 6MT: P1.568 million

To note, the pricing of the Pajero Sport in the Land of Smiles is P2.149 million-P2.614 million.
