Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) Stays Strong with 4,870 units sold in February
MANILA: The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) is once again out with the monthly sales analysis of the domestic automobile industry. With the sales numbers touching a total of 4,870 units, it is no surprise here that Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has once again retained the number two position in the industry. MMPC sits just below Ford Philippines which has been crowned as a top-selling brand in February.
As per the merged reports of CAMPI and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), MMPC, after the conclusion of a successful January, has performed impressively in the month of February with a hike of 33.1 percent in total sales volume in comparison to the last year. MMPC has managed to grab 19.4 percent market share with an increase of 24.5 percent in the gross CAMPI sales for the 2-month period.
There was a massive surge in Mitsubishi car sales in February as compared to January where it sold 4867 units, which is 14% more from December and almost 50% higher than January 2015 figures. Based on the CAMPI reports of the total units sold in February, the all-new Montero Sport accounted for more than a third of the sales, with 1595 units combining the previous model. Launched last January, this midsized SUV accounts for 49% of LCV sales and 32.8 % of the total units sold by MMPC. Making its first debut in the neighboring ASEAN country Thailand, the next generation Montero Sport topped the MMPC sales charts, continuing to excel in the brand’s portfolio with its rugged exterior and world-class features.
According to VP for Sales and Marketing of Mitsubishi Philippines, despite the issues hounding for Montero Sport last year, it will continue to remain as the best selling vehicle in its segment with the impressive value for money it offers. Montero Sport is available for test drive at any Mitsubishi dealer to offer a never-forgetting experience for those interested in owning an SUV marvelled in engineering. With only few days left for 2016 Manila International Auto Show, it would be interesting to see the sales of MMPC during the highly awaited automotive exhibition.
