Mitsubishi Motors to hold global premiere in PH for the first time

MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) will host the world premiere of its latest concept, which might be the next-generation Montero Sport.

To note, the currently-offered Mitsubishi Montero Sport in the country entered the country in 2016.

Per the brand’s distributor in the country, the Japanese automaker announced that it will unveil a seven-seater concept sport utility vehicle (SUV) at the upcoming 9th Philippine International Motor Show slated on October 24-27 at the World Trade Center Manila in Pasay City.

In a statement, the company noted that the seven-seater SUV concept “embodies Mitsubishi Motors' commitment to provide fulfilling mobility lifestyles that awaken the adventurous spirit of drivers and provide excitement for everyone on board.”

Such an event serves as a monumental occasion for MMPC (and the local automotive industry as a whole) as it would be the first time in the brand’s history that it shall put the spotlight on the Philippines.  

Additionally, the Japanese marque noted that the unveiling of the seven-seater SUV concept in the Philippines “underscores the brand's dedication to ASEAN drivers and reaffirms MMPC’s pivotal role in Mitsubishi Motors' global strategy.”

“Traditionally, such global debuts had taken place in other key markets like Thailand or Indonesia. However, the Philippines, which is now the central focus of MMC, takes the spotlight this year, making the concept car’s reveal all the more significant,” MMPC noted.

MMPC President and Chief Executive Officer Ritsu Imaeda said that the decision to have the world premiere in the Philippines is a testament to the country’s growing importance within Mitsubishi Motors' global operations.

“This new concept reflects Mitsubishi Motors’ vision of delivering top quality vehicles to the ASEAN region, and we are thrilled that this will be showcased for the first time in the Philippines,” he added.

Further, MMPC stated that the arriving concept vehicle brings together the brand’s heritage of craftsmanship and its commitment to developing vehicles that meet the unique demands of the market.
