Mitsubishi PH releases statement on alleged SUA issues in Montero Sport
MANILA: Recently, few claims have been raised against Sudden Unintended Acceleration (SUA) in Montero Sport without any driver input and looking into these claims, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) responded to the alleged sudden acceleration issues by releasing an official statement.
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) performed certain investigation in Japan and stated that the claims on the Montero Sport is not true and without basis. Each and every claim was examined comprehensively by MMPC and global headquarters in order to ensure complete safety of Montero Sport owners.
The tests were conducted in February and October of 2011 by a Japanese team at MMPC. For further investigation, a unit suffering from same complaint was sent for testing to Japan in October 2011. Later on, the results revealed that the issue of SUA is not manifest.
Moreover, MMPC advises the public to refer to the owner's manual for studying the transmission type, especially buyers who are shifting from a manual transmission model to automatic transmission model. There can be chances of error if the driver unknowingly steps the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. These things are meant to be taken care while driving.
