Mitsubishi to Offer 'Value-for-money' with its 2017 Mirage

MANILA: When Mitsubishi first slapped a boot to its Mirage hatchback back in 2013, the resulting sedan garnered mixed reactions. While some claimed it to be the most value for money product on offer, others bluntly added a 'cheap' tag to the sedan's image. As a result, though the Mirage G4 managed to rope in respectable sales figures, none of its customers would agree to it being a car one should be proud of owning. Judging its degrading image, Mitsubishi has now acted swiftly, and debuted a significantly revamped version of its popular sedan, christened as the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4. And everyone claiming the outgoing G4 to be a cheap and feature-devoid car can now just gaze in amazement!

Look at the new Mirage G4, and you might get a bit disappointed, especially after reading the above paragraph. The exteriors have been very mildly tweaked, as the front fascia gets a redesigned pair of headlamps, while the air intake has been placed lower than that on the outgoing model. The tail end too gets subtle changes, like a gray trim bar running above the number plate housing, a new set of combination taillights, and a new, beefier bumper.

But the changes become more significant as you step inside the cabin, as the new 2017 Mirage G4 shares interior elements from the updated Mirage hatch. The most apparent change is undoubtedly the all-new multifunction steering wheel, while the instrument cluster now gets 3-pod gauges to display speed, rpm and warning lights. But what acts as an icing on the cake is optional high-tech infotainment system, that is now compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Subtle piano black inserts on the steering, centre console, and gear lever housing enliven the all-black cabin.

Changes on the new G4 continue deep under the skin, as Mitsubishi engineers have tweaked the existing 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine to enhance the mill's refinement and performance delivery. Technical changes include a new roller-type camshaft, and an updated Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control (MIVEC), that enhance the car's driveability.

Mitsubishi knows that you should not fix anything that hasn't been broken. And hence, the main USP of the Mirage G4 has been kept intact in its 2017 avatar. The new Mirage G4 too gets the following Mitsubishi trustworthy warranty packages:

• Fully transferable 5-year/60,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty
• 10-year/100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty
• 7-year/100,000 mile anti-corrosion perforation limited warranty
• 5-year/unlimited mile roadside assistance

Owing to its low initial cost, fuel sipping tendencies, and the aforementioned warranty packages, the 2017 Mirage G4 can undoubtedly provide a user experience that is exceptionally light on pocket.

All these changes have completely transformed the Mirage G4's image, and enhanced its value for money factor by leaps and bounds.
