MMDA Releases List of Discredited Towing Vehicles To Curb Scams
MANILA: The towing vehicle scam from a couple of days ago was sure a moment of awakening for Metro Manila Development Authority, as they seem determined to rid the city streets from this menace. After they openly announced the indefinite suspension of Arcson towing services for the mistreatment of a vehicle owner, MMDA has finally issued a list of all the accredited towing vehicles to the public. This will not only help people identify the illegally operating towing vehicles in the city but will also prevent such miscreancies from occurring due to increased public awareness. So the next time you see your vehicle being towed by shady looking people, you can certainly know weather it’s a scam or not.
MMDA Philippines too, has seen a lot of limelight lately for their various acts and policies that were aimed at improving the traffic conditions and safety of motorists across Manila. This includes the latest safety awareness programs for students and the famous No Contact Apprehension that has proven to be phenomenal. This list includes a total of 30 towing companies along with the respective license plate numbers for the accredited vehicles that are prohibited from operating. The respective names can be checked at MMDA’s official homepage, but strangely doesn’t seem to be up to date, as the alleged vehicle from the 23rd may incident isn’t there. But since the list was last updated on the 12th, it might see some changes soon. More than 72 tow trucks have been currently suspended from operation by the government.
While there are some loopholes in their plans, the Metro Manila Development Authority’s diligence towards public grievances has certainly earned them a lot of trust lately. Another great example of their attempt to improve safety in public transport is the Lambat Sibat program. This involved a special volunteer program for Jeepney drivers to turn them into humble crime fighting personnel. Crime surely doesn’t pay and MMDA is certainly making sure of that in the Philippines.
