MMDA single-ticket system pilot launched today in 7 cities
MANILA - The MMDA's plan to implement their single ticketing system in Metro Manila was launched today and is undergoing pilot testing in 7 key LGUs around the metro.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Do I have to surrender my driver's license for each violation?
No, your driver's license will not be confiscated but your name will be tagged into the system. It will only be confiscated if the violation has become grossly habitual. When will this be available in all cities?
The system will eventually be effective in all cities very soon once the pilot program has been tweaked and perfected.Cities included in the pilot
The spokesperson for the MMDA, Melissa Carunungan singled out 7 cities including Manila, Paranaque, Caloocan, Quezon City, San Juan, Muntinlupa, and Valenzuela. This system will allow enforcers from the various different cities that comprise the Greater Manila Area to use one ticket and implement a single fine amount for each respective ordinance violation. The system allows a proper channel to streamline records and violations and increase the agency's efficiency as well as the LGU.

Carunungan stated that: “This will be a great relief for our motorists because within the single ticketing system, the top 20 most common traffic violations have uniform fines, contesting procedures, and digital payment platforms,”
The MMDA has announced that handheld devices will be used by traffic enforcers to generate violation tickets for motorists who commit traffic offenses. These tickets can be paid using different methods such as cash, digital platforms like GCash or Maya, or directly to traffic enforcers via their handheld devices. Instead of confiscating the driver's license of the offending motorist, it will now be marked in the Land Transportation Office's Management System.
Approximately 900 MMDA enforcers will be stationed along key roads in Metro Manila for the initial trial. Following this, he revealed that the Metro Manila mayors, as well as the LTO and MMDA, have concurred to convene after a week to deliberate on any modifications needed for a smoother implementation of the unified ticketing scheme.
