MMDA to shut down HQ on July 9 & 10 for disinfection
MANILA: The MMDA (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) headquarters along Orense and EDSA will close its doors temporarily on July 9 (Thursday) and July 10 (Friday) to disinfect the building after four personnel tested positive for COVID-19.
Sanitation will begin as early as July 8 (Wednesday), which is why employees will be allowed to go home as early as 2 p.m. that day.
Disinfection and sanitation will be done starting July 9 until July 12 (Sunday).
“Upon the recommendation of the MMDA COVID-19 Committee, we have decided to suspend the operations at all our offices for sanitation and disinfection to protect not only our personnel but also the transacting public against the virus. We assure the public that our offices will resume operations as soon as we have completed the sanitation and disinfection of our all offices by Monday,” said MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim.
Four personnel were positive for COVID-19 after mass rapid testing and confirmatory swab tests were done. Contact tracing has been conducted and people who had close contact have been tested and ordered to undergo a 14-day quarantine period.
The agency has an 800-square meter isolation facility for employees located at the MMDA’s parking area. It has two sections – one for suspect and probable cases.
Each section has a 24-bed capacity equipped with shower rooms, comfort rooms and lavatories. The rooms are fully-air conditioned, with Wifi connection and are regularly cleaned and sanitized. Free meals are also provided.
Patients are closely monitored by the agency’s Medical Clinic.
