MANILA: With Super Typhoon Carina wreaking havoc in the Philippines several days ago, more car brands have stepped in to provide aid to those affected. Some of the aforementioned include BYD Cars Philippines, Morris Garages (MG) Philippines, and Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH).

BYD Cars Philippines has pledged to donate 100 USD, or around P5,766, for every unit sold of the Sealion 6 DM-i until December 2024. The proceeds will go to the victims of the super typhoon, per BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division General Manager Liu Xueliang.
“On behalf of BYD, I would like to express my sympathy to the people affected by Typhoon Carina. We, together with ACMobility, wish to extend BYD’s support to Filipinos who suffered from this unfortunate disaster.
Besides the said commitment, the brand has also fielded its teams to distribute relief goods in Baragay Dela Paz, Pasig City, last July 26, 2024. The said area saw over 100 families affected by flooding.
During the relief operations, operatives of BYD utilized the vehicle-to-load capabilities of the Sealion 6 DM-i as a source of power for the volunteers’ devices.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families affected by this calamity. Guided by our company value of “malasakit,” we remain committed to going above and beyond in serving our communities during these trying times,” Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines Bob Palanca said.
MG Philippines
As a response to the recent flooding caused by the super typhoon, MG Philippines is offering up to 30 percent discounts for select parts related to flood damage.
Per the marque, the said discounts can be availed by MG customers with cars damaged by Carina at any authorized MG dealership nationwide until September 30, 2024.
Suzuki Philippines Incorporated
Similar to Suzuki’s motorcycle division, the brand’s local automotive arm is also rolling out the “Suzuki Flood Assistance” initiative, which provides 30 percent discounts on selected parts, as well as a 10 percent off on labor.
Select parts offered with a 30 percent discount via the flood assistance program include the engine control module, anti-lock braking system control module, body control module, and SRS module.
Furthermore, other technical parts damaged by flooding, except consumable parts, may be covered by the brand’s program (subject to evaluation and approval). In addition, only non-insured Suzuki vehicles and insured vehicles without “Act of Nature” coverage are qualified.
The said discounts are available until September 30, 2024, from select Suzuki dealerships.
Other brands with their own initiatives to aid car owners stricken by Typhoon Carina include Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated, Hyundai Motor Philippines Incorporated, and Ford Philippines.
