MPTC gifts toll-free travel during Christmas, New Year
MANILA: Motorists passing through the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), C5 Link, Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) can take advantage of toll-free travel during both Christmas and New Year.
No toll fees were collected on all MPTC expressways from December 24, 2020 (10 p.m.) to December 25, 2020 (6 a.m.). This will again be the case from December 31, 2020 (10 p.m.) to January 1, 2021 (6 a.m.).
Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) President and CEO Rodrigo E. Franco said, “This simple treat is part of our group’s initiative to give back to our customers especially this holiday season.”
Franco added that all MPTC expressways are prepared for the anticipated increase of traffic volume with the enforcement of the “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” (SMSK) motorist assistance program.
Enhanced operations will be observed on expressways under the MPTC until January 4, 2021. This aims to offer motorists an easier and safer travel during the holiday season.
More radio-frequency identification (RFID) Assist Squads, security teams, traffic marshals, and patrol crews are assigned at specific areas of the expressway to guarantee safety and offer fast response and assistance to motorists.
Furthermore, incident response groups and emergency medical services will be enhanced during the surge of traffic. The closure of lanes as well as construction along the mainline of expressways have been temporarily paused until January 5, 2021, unless safety repairs will be required.
At NLEX-SCTEX, motorists can also avail of free 24-hour towing service on the nearest exit point for Class 1 vehicles on December 26 and 27, 2020 and January 2 to 3, 2021.
Traffic updates will be communicated to motorists through regular posting on the social media accounts of CALAX, CAVITEX, and NLEX Corporation as well as through variable message signs.
For motorists who have concerns or inquiries, they can call the 24/7 hotline (C5 Link, CALAX, SCTEX, NLEX: 1-35000; CAVITEX: 8-165-8888).
