KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much is the expected increase in traffic volume along MPTC expressways during Holy Week?
Based on data from the previous years, traffic volume rises from 10% to 15% during this peak season. What is MPT DriveHub?
MPT DriveHub is an all-in-one travel app where motorists can process RFID transactions, enable trip planning, and request for emergency roadside assistance.Based on the data from the previous years, traffic volume rises from 10% to 15% during this peak season.
The program will facilitate the increased deployment of patrol crews, traffic marshals, security teams, and toll plaza staff to offer immediate assistance to motorists. Emergency medical services and incident response teams will also be deployed at key areas along the expressways.
Roadworks along the expressways will also be suspended within the program implementation period unless there will be necessary safety repairs.
The expressways' social media accounts will also be giving updates on traffic information, while the MPTC hotline will be open 24/7 to immediately assist motorists with their concerns.
There will also be free towing to the nearest exit for Class 1 vehicles from April 13, 6 a.m. to April 18, 6 a.m.
"With the easing of travel restrictions, there's a lot more outdoor activity from the general public. As we return to some normalcy as compared to recent years, we have anticipated this increase in volume by fielding additional personnel and offering special roadside services," MPTC President and Chief Executive Officer Rodrigo Franco stated.
MPTC also encourages motorists to use RFID for faster and smoother trips. Easytrip installation sites are open for motorists who have no RFID sticker yet.
Motorists are also encouraged to download the MPT DriveHub app, an all-in-one travel app where motorists can process RFID transactions, enable trip planning, and request emergency roadside assistance.
The app lets motorists check their RFID balance and reload their accounts before they travel along any MPTC-operated tollway. There is also a toll fee calculator within the app where users can compute how much load they need before heading out to their trips.
SMSK services are also shown in the app's traffic update feature, helping motorists plan their trips ahead. The 24/7 roadside emergency service can also be availed through the app's call button.
"MPT DriveHub is designed to make access and mobility efficient and easy for our customers. Aside from getting to their destination safely and conveniently, we want them to feel secure that we have these customer-centric services so that they can focus on enjoying the journey," Franco added. "The app, the increased manpower deployment, the roadside services identified to respond to our customers' needs for this coming Holy Week — these initiatives are synergistic — they all come together to create a travel experience that is safer and more relaxing."
SMSK is expected to improve the travel experience of all motorists passing along MPTC expressways this Holy Week, especially when used with the MPT DriveHub app.
