New aircon system of Hyundai cleans and softens the air
MANILA: Hyundai has developed three new air-conditioning technologies to keep air inside the cabin clean, and it couldn’t come at a better time as motorists begin using their vehicles in the midst of a pandemic.
These new technologies — After-Blow, Multi-Air Mode, and Fine Dust Indicator — aim to clean the air while also enhancing the performance of the air-conditioning unit.
After-Blow technology is activated right after the engine is turned off. For 10 minutes, it dries the evaporator and any condensate in the air passage, and also allows outside air to come in to prevent humidity and suppress mold growth in the air-conditioning system. It uses an intelligent battery sensor to monitor energy levels to be able to stop when the battery is low.
Fine Dust Indicator Technology measure the air inside the vehicle in real time and delivers digitized information to the driver so adjustments can be made. The information about the concentration and pollution level of ultrafine particles (PM2.5) in the cabin is displayed in numbers and in color — blue for 0 to 15 μg/m3, green for 16 to 35 μg/m3, orange for 36 to 75 μg/m3, and red for 76 μg/m3 or higher. At levels beyond 36 μg/m3, the air cleaning mode will kick in to purify the air. It will set the air volume between 3 and 8, switch to air-recirculation mode, and turn on the air-conditioning system to reduce indoor humidity. If the air quality does not improve, it means the driver must replace the air filter and even the seat covers and mats.
Multi-Air Mode technology helps to enhance the cooling or heating of the system by using multiple vents. When activated, the air comes out of the newly added multi-air vents to disperse the airflow and soften contact with driver and/or passenger.
It will initially be introduced in Korea before it makes its way to Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models around the world.
