New Audi RS 5 Coupe now in the country

MANILA: Audi Philippines has officially launched the new Audi RS 5 Coupe that comes with updated design details and technologies combined with an excellent pulling power and immense traction.

The Audi RS 5 Coupe arrived in the country together with the 2021 RS Q3 Sportback, RS 4 Avant, and RS 5 Sportback.

In a release, Audi Philippines enumerated five things that every Audi fan should know about the 2021 RS 5 Coupe.

It features a design inspired by the Audi “Ur” Quattro. The new RS 5 Coupe features a classic two-door shape that embodies authentic Audi styling. Its perfectly symmetric proportions, highlighted by a long hood, short deck, and muscular shoulders, are derived from the “Ur” Quattro of 1984. It is equipped with air vents above the signature RS Singleframe grille. To integrate a modern look to the vehicle, it is designed with an RS-specific darkened matrix LED headlights, pentagonal side air inlets, and RS exhaust system with large, black tailpipes.

Its RS performance functions can be accessed by touch controls. The car features a futuristic interior design highlighted by a 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit that displays information about tire pressure, torque output, engine oil temperature, boost pressure, and G-forces generated. The driver can easily activate the timing for lap sessions and acceleration runs by simply pressing a button on the steering wheel.

It allows the driver to modify the driving style via the RS Mode button. The Audi Drive Select feature allows the driver to select among the Comfort, Auto, and Dynamic drive modes. In addition to these modes, the new Audi RS 5 Coupe also comes with RS1 and RS2 modes that can be individually configured, saved, and selected through the RS Mode button on the steering wheel. The different drive modes control the engine and transmission management, steering boost, suspension settings, the Quattro differential, the sound produced by the RS sport exhaust system, and the automatic air-conditioning system.

It features a sport-tuned suspension. The Audi RS 5 Coupe features the RS sport suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control. This suspension system consists of steel springs and three-way adjustable dampers. It is highly responsive even during hard cornering, resulting in agile handling. The Audi Drive Select feature also allows the driver to modify the characteristics of the dampers from comfortably luxurious to sporty.

It has undergone extensive testing at the Nürburgring. Every new RS model is tested and fine-tuned at the Nürburgring track in Germany. Each high-performance model undergoes at least 8,000 kilometers of evaluation to assess its dynamics. The new RS 5 Coupe is powered by a 2.9-liter, twin-turbo V6 TSFI engine that generates 450hp and 600Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from standstill to 100kph in 3.9 seconds. It gets an eight-speed tiptronic transmission that transmits the engine’s output to the Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. In a normal driving operation, the Quattro AWD distributes 40% of the power to the front axle and the rest to the rear.

Depending on requirements, the center differential can redirect up to 70% of the power toward the front, or up to 85% toward the rear. This causes more dynamic handling while constantly ensuring traction.
