New Mini Countryman arrives in PH, priced at P3.75-M

MANILA: Mini Asia and British United Automobiles Inc. have announced the release of the new Mini Countryman, the largest and most versatile member of the Mini lineup, which offers new driving pleasure and individual flair in the British luxury brand’s signature design.

The new Mini Countryman’s remarkable status in the premium compact segment is based on its exquisitely refined design, appealing additions to the equipment range, and revolutionary operation and networking technology. Its rugged vehicle concept, as well as the roomy and versatile cabin with five seats, makes it an unmistakable all-round talent that inspires typical Mini enthusiasm — not just in daily traffic, but also on long trips and even when travelling along unpaved roads.

With the new Mini Countryman, the British brand’s tradition-steeped conquest of new target groups continues. The Mini Countryman was a trailblazer even in its first iteration. It lays the groundwork for the brand’s successful entry into the premium compact segment as the first model with an exterior length of more than four meters, four doors, a large tailgate, five seats, and all-wheel drive. The Mini Countryman now accounts for nearly 30% of the brand’s new registrations globally.

With the introduction of the current-model generation, considerable improvements in terms of space, versatility, functionality, and ride comfort have been made. The new Mini Countryman is powered with the Cooper S petrol engine with Mini TwinPower Turbo Technology. This engine has undergone substantial improvement and now generates 192hp.

The new Mini Countryman is easily recognizable as the brand’s largest model because of its distinctive proportions. The model-specific roof line notably interprets the three-part structure of the vehicle body that is a trademark of Mini. The car’s upright stance and higher ground clearance provide ample interior space, a muscular character, and compelling on- and off-road capabilities. The Mini ALL4’s external design and standard roof rails emphasize the car’s versatility.

The car’s front area has been meticulously redesigned, strongly emphasizing its great appeal. The revamped bumper covering structure, which is now entirely in body finish, provides a clean and high-quality look. The new radiator grille features Mini’s signature hexagonal contours and in enclosed by a thin, one-piece chrome frame.

The newest version of the LED headlights has a high-quality design that highlights the technology used. A continuous band of light that serves as both a daytime driving light and a turn indicator accentuates the headlights’ unique, slightly asymmetrically rounded curves. When changing directions, the LED headlights’ turning light, which is included in the functional range, offers intense illumination on the side sections of the road. LED fog lights are standard on the new Mini countryman, with a light strip in the upper semicircle of each fog light acting as a parking light.

The rear apron, with its reworked bumper trim, also contributes to the new Mini Countryman’s notably muscular and modern appearance. The upright rear lights with chrome frames add a distinctive, identifiable touch that harkens back to the British brand’s origins. All lighting features now come standard with high-quality LED technology, and the graphic structure of the light source traces the pattern of the Union Jack. The flag motif provides a unique form of identification — both during the day and in terms of night design — thanks to its prominent lines.

The selection of body finishes, which includes the newly added White Silver metallic and Sage Green metallic, expands the possibilities for creating a unique style. The new Mini Countryman’s roof and mirror caps are painted in black in contrast with the body color.

The headlight surrounds, rear lights, radiator grille, and side indicator elements are all finished in high-gloss black instead of chrome, as are the door handles and model inscription on the cargo compartment lid. The vehicle also comes standard with 19-in inch Turnstile Spoke two-tone light alloy wheels with runflat tires.

Other features in high-gloss black include the original Mini accessories, such as the Mini emblem and the “Cooper S” inscription in piano black design. Exterior mirror caps and side scuttles in Night Jack design with a gray-black pattern are also available for refit.

The new Mini Countryman blends a customizable interior with a dynamic driving experience. At the rear, there are three seats. The second row of seats can also be used to increase transport capacity. Storage space can be expanded from 450 to 1,390 liters by folding down the rear seat in a 40:20:40 split. With the launch of new options and a wider product range, selective interior modification based on the customer’s personal style has become even more appealing.

The new Mini Countryman can achieve an even better balance between driving fun and fuel consumption, thanks to a comprehensive powertrain portfolio that has been further upgraded. Other components of emissions performance, such as particulate filters for petrol engines, have also been constantly improved by means of applicable procedures, in addition to further optimization of CO₂ levels. As a result, all Mini Countryman variants now comply with the stringent Euro 6d emission standard.

The new Mini Cooper S Countryman’s four-cylinder petrol engine with Mini TwinPower Turbo Technology features an exhaust manifold incorporated into the cylinder head as well as turbocharging. This, among other things, ensures that the exhaust gases and the turbocharging system are kept cool. At the same time, a new split cooling valve can reduce crankcase cooling when demand is minimal in the partial load range. Furthermore, the maximum pressure for direct injection in petrol engine has been increased from 200 to 350 bar. The seven-speed Steptronic double-clutch transmission in the Mini Cooper S Countryman allows for quick gear changes and improved shifting dynamics.

The engine churns out a maximum power output of 192hp from 5,000 to 5,500rpm and a maximum torque of 280Nm at 1,350 to 4,600rpm. This allows the vehicle to accelerate from a standstill to 100kph in 7.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 226kph.

The interior of the new Mini Countryman has also grown in appeal as a result of an expanded list of standard features. All variants now come with front and rear Park Distance Control, as well as Park Assist. Electrically adjustable seats, with a memory function on the driver’s side, are also standard on the new Mini Countryman.

The cabin is also equipped with a digital instrument display, which has a diameter of five inches, and a black panel design. The audio and navigation system has also been reorganized. The Connected Navigation Plus, which is likewise standard on both variants, features an 8.8-inch color display with touchscreen function in the central instrument, which is a typical Mini feature.
