NLEX Corporation gives free eye care services to bus drivers
MANILA: NLEX Corporation conducted its "See Clearly, Drive Safely" program to provide free eye care services to bus drivers from Luzon and Metro Manila.

Over 100 members of Nagkakaisang Samahan ng Nangangasiwa ng Panlalawigang Bus sa Pilipinas Incorporated received free eye care services.In collaboration with Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Cardinal Medical Charities Foundation Incorporated, and Executive Optical, NLEX Corporation offered free consultation, visual accuracy examination, refraction test, and eye disease screening to over 100 members of Nagkakaisang Samahan ng Nangangasiwa ng Panlalawigang Bus sa Pilipinas Incorporated (NSNPBPI).
The goal of the program is to promote safe driving by reminding drivers of the importance of good eyesight when on the road.
According to NLEX Corporation President J. Luigi Bautista, this program demonstrates the commitment of the company to ensure safety along their expressways as good eyesight is critical to safe driving.
"By fostering good eye care, we will be able to protect the lives of the drivers and motorists as better vision guarantees safer travel," he stated.
Bautista also stressed that those who drive with unreliable eyesight pose greater risk as they are not able properly measure distance, determine road hazards, and read traffic signs.
Aside from the free eye care services, NLEX Corporation also gave away free reading and prescription glasses and eye drops. Those who need to undergo a cataract surgery can avail operation for free from the volunteer doctors of Cardinal Santos Medical Center.
"Nagpapasalamat ako sa NLEX at Cardinal Santos Medical Center sa isinagawa nilang eye care clinic na makatutulong sa ating mga driver. Sana po ay continuous ang pagkakaroon ng ganitong programa (I thank NLEX and Cardinal Santos Medical Center for conducting an eye care clinic that will help our drivers. We hope that this program will be continuous)," NSNPBPI Executive Director Alex Yague stated.
Launched in 2017, the "See Clearly, Drive Safely" program has helped over 750 drivers from the Provincial Bus Operators Association of the Philippines and NSNPBPI.
