NLEX starts annual road maintenance program

The move is to ensure that motorists will have a "more convenient travel experience.”In a statement, the toll operator said that the initiative is currently in full swing to assure motorists of a “more convenient travel experience.”
“Safety and convenience must go hand in hand to maintain a high level of customer experience. While we have frequent inspections and repairs to prevent serious road damage, this comprehensive maintenance program is being done annually to improve the quality of our roads and enhance motorists’ safety,” NLEX Corporation President and General Manager Luigi Bautista.
The toll firm said that its scheduled asset maintenance program started last May with a target to cover around 63,195 square meters (sqm) of NLEX and some 39,201 sqm of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway. The repairs can go from asphalt resurfacing to patching, depending on the gravity of the damage.
Expected to benefit thousands of motorists plying the said roads daily, the repair could last until September.
Per NLEX Corporation, nine bridges and overpasses were also successfully repaired to maintain their reliability. These include Canumay Overpass, Malis II Farm Crossing, Pritil Farm Crossing, Del Carmen Farm Crossing, San Rafael Overpass, Dalisdis Overpass, Suclaban Farm Crossing, Old Angeles Interchange, and Capaya Overpass. Rebar replacement and girder restructure were among the engineering works done in relation to the project.
The Pangilinan-backed company noted that the 720-meter Pasig-Potrero bridge, which serves as a vital link between Subic and Clark, is also being strengthened to improve the bridge’s serviceability and protect its structure.
Further, the tollway company noted that its roadway lighting, perimeter fences, lane markings and road signages are being refurbished regularly.
While such works are being undertaken, the company assured the public that traffic management and safety measures are in place to ensure motorists’ safety and minimize travel delays.
