Official spy shots of BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe are out
MANILA: After bringing the BMW 1 Series earlier this year, the German carmaker has revealed the 'official spy shots' of the 2 Series. Last year, the car was spied and identified ‘unofficially’ and now it is informed that it will come with front-wheel drive system just like its smaller brethren.
Design-wise, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe features similar front fascia as the hatch. There are large, upswept headlights along with the trademark big-wide kidneys, which can also be found on the hatch. The M Sport model comes with the aggressive and angular bumpers. There are M Sport brakes that offer the required performance intention.
The car looks sleeker than its smaller brethren from the windshield back. The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe comes with sporty windshield along with lower roofline. Comparing to the hatch, it is longer and there is a smooth-flowing design at the tail. Just like the 4 Series Gran Coupe, the smaller sibling gets the pillarless doors. The tail-lights are identical to the 8 Series as it features subtle L-shape and slim look.
The carmaker has not announced much regarding the specifications. BMW only stated the official spy shots are of the M235i xDrive. However, it is rumored to get similar engines like the 1 Series. The M135i xDrive is the top-end version of the 1 Series, which comes equipped with a boosted 2.0-litre engine that pumps out a maximum power of 306 PS and a peak torque of 450 Nm.
On the other hand, the 1 Series has the 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine version as well. It is capable of delivering a maximum power of 140 PS. Thereafter, the 116d has a power output of 116 PS, followed by the 118d that churns out a maximum power of 150PS. The last from the list is 120d, which can produce a maximum power of 190 PS.
