Omoda E5 does 442kms in recent AAP test

MANILA: The Omoda E5 in the Philippines has recently exceeded its 430-kilometer (km) published range.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What was the total range capability of the Omoda E5 tested by the Automobile Association of the Philippines?

One of the two tested units was able to do 442.7 kilometers.
  • When was the test conducted?

The 13-hour test was done last September 4.
  • In a test conducted with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) last September 4, one of the two fully-electric sport utility vehicles showed a total range capability of 442.7 kms — with still two-percent juice still left in its battery and estimated remaining range of 8 km).

The other one did 428.8 kms — with a seven-percent battery state of charge left and an estimated remaining range of 28 kms.

For the said run, the said test vehicles maintained an 80 kilometers per hour (kph) cruising speed (reaching a 90 kph maximum speed when necessary) during the nearly 13-hour long drive across six destinations, including Shell Mampalasan, North Luzon Expressway Balagtas, Petron TPLEX (Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway) northbound, Clean Beach Coffee, Poro Point Lighthouse, and Shell TPLEX Rosario.

The vehicles used only standard equipment; tire pressures at 42 psi; carrying three passengers and 10 kilograms worth of items; and were in extreme energy-saving mode with the highest regenerative braking settings activated.

Air-conditioning system settings (temperature and blower) were adjusted according to passenger preference while headlamps, wipers and infotainment system were also used to simulate real-world driving conditions.

Further, adaptive cruise control was activated for both cars.

Omodaand Jaecoo Philippines Country Director Marco Chen noted that the certification that the vehicle received from AAP serves as a “testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the automotive industry.”

“The AAP certification proves that Omoda E5 is indeed about style and efficiency. We engineered our electric vehicles to be capable of handling long drives on a full battery while keeping the driver and passengers comfortable throughout the entire ride. This certification is proof of Omoda’s automotive engineering DNA: the Art in Motion, which boasts smart innovations, eco-friendly features, and distinctly modern aesthetics,” Chen explained.
