Patent drawings of the 2019 Mazda 3 are out

MANILA: The Japanese automaker, Mazda, made breaking news recently when a British magazine reported that the all-new 2019 Mazda 3 will make its presence for the very first time at 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show later this year. Again we can witness it making news with the patent drawing of the vehicle popping online to impart a clear idea regarding how actually the car might look like.

It is being speculated that the debut appearance at the motor show will feature the all-new Mazda 3 both in hatchback and sedan form. Some reporters, however, have managed to collect patent images of the upcoming 2019 Mazda 3 in its sedan guise only. The hatchback patent drawing is not available yet.

At the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, the automaker showcased their Kai Concept and now with the drawings revealed, it can be said that the actual model will stay true to the concept to a great extent. The addition of a trunk though is something new apparently and was not there in the Kai Concept.

If these patent drawings are to believed, the sedan will come with sculpted headlamps, a massive front grille, and a sharp nose. The design also bears some influences from the CX-5 and CX-9, as visible from the images. It is being speculated that the 2019 Mazda 3 is likely to feature the all-new gas-fed SkyActiv-X engine, which does not use spark plugs to run just like a diesel engine.

It could be realized from the drawings available that the vehicle’s tail end does not resemble that of the presently available model much. One can spot that the license plate holder on the bumper, instead of mounting it on the trunk lid. It looks more as if the Japanese automaker is trying to bring back the exterior design style featured by the first two Mazda 3 Sedan generations including a big, huge blank space on the fascia of the trunk.

The drawings show that the tail lamps of the 2019 Mazda 3 Sedan stretch further into the quarter panel. The two round shapes on the light units suggest the area where the turn signals and tail lights are being planned to include.
