MANILA: A performance version of the Aston Martin DBX will be introduced, as announced by the British car marque in a scant release.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What could power the performance version of the Aston Martin DBX?
The new DBX could possibly powered by a tuned version of the DBX's V8 engine, or a V12 one. When will Aston Martin introduce the performance DBX?
Aston Martin will reveal the DBX in the SUV's microsite on February 2."Aston Martin (is) excited to present the next chapter of the DBX story, where new performance standards will be set. Are you ready for the world’s most powerful luxury SUV?" read the entire release.
The newest edition of the brand's first SUV will be revealed in Aston Martin's "New Seat of Power website" on February 2.
As Aston Martin remains tight-lipped on the hot DBX, it can only be assumed that it could be powered by an upgraded version of the four-liter V8 from the standard DBX.
With twin-turbocharging, the DBX's V8 generates 550ps and 700Nm of torque, propelling the SUV from zero to 100kph in 4.5 seconds and to a top speed of 290kph.
A nine-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive helps with the car's performance. These will also likely be retained in the sporty DBX, which could weigh a few kilograms less than the 2,245 kg of the base car.
Another speculation is that the new sporty DBX could feature a larger and more powerful V12 mill, something Aston Martin said will be fitted to the Vantage.
To make this DBX performance model distinct from its stablemates, sportier exterior details or a lower ride height could be expected.
Apart from the mentioned V8, the standard DBX also sports adaptive triple volume air suspension, 48V electric anti-roll control system (eARC), and electronic adaptive dampers, so to make the ride sporty and comfortable.
The adaptive air springs adjust their stiffness to soften or harden the ride. Meanwhile, the eARC sends 1,400Nm torque per axle to combat body roll and help the DBX exhibit sports-car like handling.
Even with an exterior inspired by Aston Martin's sports cars, the DBX covers the "utility" part of SUV with 632 liters of cargo space and 40:20:40 split folding rear seats.
Inside the five-seater cabin, the DBX features full-grain leather sourced from Bridge of Weir, Alcantara headlining, and upscale materials such as metal, glass, and wood.
An electric roof blind allows light to enter through the full-length panoramic sunroof, while simultaneously blocking heat. Ambient lighting that offers 64 different color selections in two zones is among the DBX's premium amenities.
