Peugeot 308 tops Urban Car category at Women’s World Car of the Year awards

MANILA: The new Peugeot 308 was named Urban Car of the Year at this year’s Women’s World Car of the Year awards. The 56 exclusively female jurors noted that the new 308 exemplifies “excellence in terms of safety, driving, technology, design, environmental efficiency, and value for money. The jury evaluated around 65 shortlisted models released between January 1 and December 31, 2021.

In a statement, Peugeot Chief Executive Officer Linda Jackson said, “The fact that the new Peugeot 308 has been named best urban vehicle of the year 2022 by a jury made up exclusively of women, and from very different geographical backgrounds, demonstrates the relevance of Peugeot's strategic choices. Its unique appearance, the excellence of its technology, the emotions felt while driving it and its range of engines, both electrified and internal combustion, makes the Peugeot 308 an ideal choice for customers in every country in the world.”

After selecting the outstanding models in six separate categories (Urban Vehicle, Family SUV, Family Car, Large SUV, Sports Car, and 4x4), the members of the jury will choose their ultimate Women’s World Car of the Year. The results will be announced around March 8, International Women’s Day.

Peugeot launched two silhouettes for the new 308: a five-door hatchback and SW estate. The 308 is a high-efficiency vehicle that can be powered by low-emission petrol or diesel engines, as well as plug-in hybrids (both 180 hp and 225 hp). In 2023, Peugeot will release pure electric variants of the new 308.

The Peugeot 308 is best known for its impressive interior that comes with the Peugeot i-Cockpit, high-end digital interfaces, and a compact steering wheel that make driving more enjoyable.

The Peugeot 308 is the brand’s third model to win a WWCOTY category in just two years, following the double victory of the Peugeot 2008 (Urban SUV category) and Peugeot 208 (Urban Vehicle category) in 2021.
