Peugeot PH plants 300 saplings through ‘Protectors of the Environment’ program
MANILA: Peugeot Philippines strengthens its commitment to help the environment with the planting of 300 more saplings through its Protectors of the Environment (POE) Program.
Peugeot Philippines introduced the POE Program last year, following the global initiative of the French car brand. This program aims to encourage automotive companies to reduce their collective carbon footprint. For every vehicle sold, Peugeot Philippines plants three saplings in a protected area near Angat Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan. The children of each new Peugeot car owner will be named as the owners of these, making the program more holistic and forward-looking.
Last September, Peugeot Philippines, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Briquettor Philippines, planted the first 210 saplings as part of the celebration of the brand’s 210th anniversary.
Peugeot Philippines Business Development Director and POE Program Head Dong Magsajo stated, “In celebration of our 210th anniversary as a company, we planted our first 210 trees late last year. It was our way of kicking off our environment program. This year, despite all the difficulties presented by the pandemic, we made sure to follow through on that commitment by continuing to plant more trees. We did promise during the project launch that for as long as people are purchasing Peugeot vehicles, we will be planting trees. Our customers expect us to deliver products worthy of their trust. We, in turn, commit to living up to that trust by going the extra mile and helping them, as individuals, reduce their carbon footprint as members of the growing Peugeot family.”
