PH-bound Defender Octa to arrive next year

MANILA: Following its upcoming official reveal at Goodwood Festival of Speed within the month, Inchcape Philippines is set to bring the Defender Octa to the local market next year.

IC Land Automotive Incorporated — distributor of Jaguar and Land Rover models in the country — told Zigwheels Philippines that the soon-to-be-launched offering will arrive in the country during the initial quarter of 2025.

The speculation about its arrival in the Philippines started when the model was already being teased on the company website.

Based on the information posted, the Defender Octa is set to be powered by a V8 twin-turbo engine in mild hybrid set-up. The said mill, which comes with several drive modes, can dish out as much as 626 horsepower and up to 750 Newton-meters of torque — allowing the vehicle to sprint 100 kilometers per hour from standstill in four seconds flat.

Giving the vehicle its distinctive roar is the active exhaust system.

Its stopping power is guaranteed by the Defender Octa-specific brake pads, calipers and brake discs with Integrated Power Brake system that cuts down brake fade.

The upcoming Defender Octa also comes with 6D Dynamics Air Suspension that features hydraulic interlinked dampers and height adjustable air springs.

Per Land Rover, the model will have its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed scheduled on July 11-14. 

Once it is offered to the Philippine market, it will join the Defender roster currently made up of the 130, 110, and 90.
