When will Mitsubishi launch the Xforce in the Philippines?
The Philippine-spec Mitsubishi Xforce will be revealed by June 2024.What could be powering the Philippine-bound Mitsubishi Xforce?
The model is expected to have a 1.5-liter MIVEC engine mated to CVT system.During an event yesterday, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation Executive Vice President for Sales Tatsuo Nakamura shared that the brand’s local distributor plans to introduce the vehicle by June 2024.
Nakamura made the declaration weeks after Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation formally revealed the all-new Triton for the local market.
The forthcoming five-seater sport utility vehicle — which made its inception as the XFC Concept in October 2022 then showcased to the country in July 2023 — will stamps its presence locally following the nameplate’s introduction in the Indonesian market in August 2023 and Vietnam last January.
In his speech, Nakamura expressed confidence that the overall design of the Mitsubishi Xforce (which was designed mainly for the Southeast Asian market) will earn the attention of many customers in the Philippine market.
“The Xforce also embodies Mitsubishi Motors-ness with its attractive design, and it won the V Mark Design Golden Award in Vietnam — which I’m sure the Philippines customers will be able to feel the charm of Xforce design,” Nakamura was quoted as saying.
Made for the region’s road conditions, the MMC executive noted that the forthcoming model features a "Wet Mode" in the four drive mode presets. Per Nakamura, the said technology “controls the wheels in a sophisticated manner, and ensures vehicle stability on wet roads by rain, and in flooded roads by storms.”
Nakamura said that the company has full trust that the Mitsubishi Xforce will serve as one of robust pillars in Philippine market.”
While waiting for the model’s official specifications for the Philippine market, below are the notable details about the vehicle in other markets.
The vehicle’s upper half sports a floating roof and smooth edges while the lower portion comes with beefy proportions as seen in the fender flares, 18-inch wheels with large diameter tires.
Claiming that it has the capability to handle rough roads, the vehicle also has a 222-millimeter (mm) ground clearance.
Inside, the Mitsubishi Xforce is equipped with a large monolithic display panel with a 12.3-inch smartphone-link display audio and a digital driver display. Its Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium sound system includes eight speakers, with front tweeters on the A-pillars on both sides, woofers in the front doors, and coaxial two-way speakers in the rear doors.
Further, the Horizontal Axis concept is the foundation for the instrument panel's design — improving forward visibility and making it easier for drivers to notice changes in the position of the vehicle when on uneven terrains.
Powering the Mitsubishi Xforce is a 1.5-liter double overhead cam, 16-valve engine with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control system. Sending its power to the wheels is the vehicle’s continuous variable transmission setup.
The Xforce for the Philippine market will come from Indonesia as the Japanese automaker’s arm there began exporting the all-new Xforce manufactured at PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia.
Vietnam will serve as the first export market for the vehicle in ASEAN. Soon the model's examples will be delivered in stages to the Philippines, followed by South Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
